Todd Crandell was an alcohol & drug addict for 13 years.  He now helps others with their addiction struggles and competes in extreme endurance events to spread a message of hope.  For the first time in the 25 year history of the Ultraman Canada race a film crew followed Todd as he competed in the 512 KM (318.6 miles) event.   This film is a stark look into his life as he battles with demons old and new, and the cost could be his life and his family.

Todd Crandell battled severe alcohol and drug addictions for 13 years.  His mother committed suicide when he was 3 years old.  Her suicide would become the impetus for Todd’s addictions and wonton self-destruction from the ages of 13 to 26.  After numerous arrests, becoming destitute and finding himself homeless, Todd kicked his addictions and became sober for good.  He soon discovered a new passion, helping addicts and their families

around the world and competing in extreme endurance events like the Ironman Triathlon to spread a message of hope.

By July 2009, Todd had competed in over 50 extreme endurance events.  Next up; Ultraman Canada, - a grueling  three-day,  512  KM  (318.6  mile)  triathlon  in  the  rustic  back-country  of  Penticton,  British Columbia with a camera crew in his face the whole way.  The race is limited to only 35 athletes per year from across the globe.   In the 25 year history of the event no camera crew had ever been given unprecedented access to the race or a competitor before, until now.

The film tells Todd’s story of addiction, recovery, and his mission to save lives while he continues to struggle with internal and external factors that could destroy his life.  Running with Demons is a unique and stark glimpse into the life of an ex-addict who's battling with another addiction - saving people's lives - and the cost could be his life and his family.
